Harbhajan Singh (4-64) and Amit Mishra (3-27) wreaked havoc on the final afternoon as the Aussies collapsed from 111-2 at lunch to 209 all out.

Matthew Hayden went down fighting with a typically belligerent 77, and Cameron White made a valiant 26 not out.

But India's spinners held sway, making maximum use of the worn wicket.

It was the first time Australia had lost a Test series by more than one match since they were trounced by West Indies in 1988-89.

Australia tour of India 4th Test: Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India Vs Australia at Vidarbha C.A. Ground, Nagpur, Day 4(four) Highlights video Nov 6-10, 2008
Australia need a further 369 runs to win the final Test against India after closing the penultimate day on 13-0.

Virender Sehwag struck a fluent 92 as India raced to 116-0 before they lost three quick wickets, including Sourav Ganguly first ball in his final Test.

But Australia chose to use occasional bowlers in a bid to speed-up their slow over-rate, and Mahendra Dhoni hit 55 in a vital 108 stand with Harbhajan Singh.
Harbhajan fired his sixth Test fifty as India, who lead 1-0, made 295 all out.

Sourav Ganguly's daughter holds up a poster, India v Australia, 4th Test, Nagpur, 4th day, November 9, 2008

Sourav Ganguly steps out to bat for the last time in Test cricket.

But it is not a long stay as he succumbs to the spin of Krejza and departs for a first ball duck.

Ganguly can at least console himself with the thought that he, like Sir Don Bradman, scored a duck in his final Test, and after 188 innings his final average was an impressive 42.

India lead the final Test at Nagpur by 86 runs after Australia were all out for a ponderous 355 late on day three.

Simon Katich, resuming on 92 with his side 189-2, was dropped at slip but hit a second Test century before Zaheer Khan trapped him for 102 before lunch.

The tourists took 354 balls to go from 200-300 and lost three wickets for 11.

Mike Hussey was run-out for 90 and Cameron White hit a Test-best 46, but India look set to protect a 1-0 series lead at 0-0 in the second innings.

Australia tour of India 4th Test: Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India Vs Australia at Vidarbha C.A. Ground, Nagpur, Day 2(two) Highlights video Nov 6-10, 2008
An extraordinary debut bowling performance from spinner Jason Krejza transformed Australia's hopes in their must-win final Test against India.

This has been a superb day of cricket offering some lovely cricketing moments. It all started with the free flowing knocks of Dhoni and Ganguly today but just when it looked like the latter would leave the scene on a bright note, i.e with a hundred, he was snapped up sharply at 1st slip to bring his downfall. Flurry of wickets, all picked up by Krejza marked the collapse. The Australians came out with a solid and positive approach, Katich and Hussey are batting very well at the moment. They have shown some good application, using the depth of the crease nicely to tackle the spinners who tried almost everything to break the partnership. It's Advantage Australia at the moment and the Indians would love to take wickets early tomorrow to change the story to some extent.

Krejza took 8-215, the sixth best figures by a Test debutant - and also the most expensive - as the hosts collapsed from 422-5 to 441 all out.

Simon Katich (92) and Michael Hussey (45) then added an unbroken 115 to take the Aussies to 189-2 in their reply.

Harbhajan Singh took his 300th wicket but was outshone by the unsung Krejza.

Australia tour of India 4th Test: Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India Vs Australia at Vidarbha C.A. Ground, Nagpur, Day 1(one) Highlights video Nov 6-10, 2008
Sachin Tendulkar became the first man to reach 40 Test centuries as his 109 took India to a solid 311-5 against Australia on day one in Nagpur.

This has been an outstanding day of cricket with India dominating the major part of the day. It all started well when the skipper won the toss and decided to bat first, belter of a track which promised tonnes of runs. Sehwag started off with a bang and was supported nicely by Vijay from the other end, but then India lost wickets in a cluster to worsen their situation. Sachin came to the rescue and so did Laxman who stitched a solid partnership to resurrect India. Sachin struggled his way to his 40th Test ton with a couple of dropped chances and one missed run-out but how does those missed chances matter, as India ended up in a strong position

TEST MATCH CENTURIES
Tendulkar (India): 40
Ponting (Australia): 36
Gavaskar (India): 34

Australia tour of India 3rd Test: Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India Vs Australia at Delhi, Day 4(Four) Highlights video Oct 29-Nov 2, 2008
So that is stumps on day four. A very good day for Australia. Clarke was their star, batting responsibly and riding his luck to hit his eighth Test century, and there were handy contributions from Watson and White along the way as Australia batted till 577, just 36 behind India's first inning total. Heading into day five, India are 79 ahead, having lost Sehwag and Ishant, sent in as nightwatchman. A good way for Australia to end their day of dominance, with the new-ball pairing taking a wicket each.
Close of play day 4 -
India 2nd innings 43/2 (G Gambhir 21*, R Dravid 5*, 13 over)

There wasn't a lot for India today. Their fielding was ragged and the catching very poor, with three straightforward catches going down off Clarke. Sehwag took his maiden five-wicket haul, exploiting the rough in the track, and Kumble took three down the order.

All in all, Australia's day. They will be pleased with their efforts.

Australia tour of India 3rd Test: Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India Vs Australia at Delhi, Day 3(three) Highlights video Oct 29-Nov 2, 2008
It was a gripping day of cricket. While the Australians never really dominated the proceedings, they did not give away too many wickets and that worked in their favour. However, the Indians bowled their hearts out and there were edges flying all over the place. A slightly more aggressive field setting will certainly boost their chances of picking up wickets. The ball is still new and hard, the spinners are getting a lot of rip and the batsmen are not at all comfortable. Tomorrow is going to be another intriguing day.

Gautam Gambhir continued his superb form as India made a fine start in the third Test against Australia in Delhi.

After losing Sehwag and Dravid early in the day, the Indians got going with a fine partnership between Gambhir and Sachin Tendulkar. While Sachin fell just before tea, thus throwing away yet another opportunity to get a big score, Gambhir and his next partner Laxman, got together to take India to a strong position. Gambhir will like to build on his score of 149 and get a real big one while Laxman too will look forward to get more runs to end his drought.

Talk about anything, be it the batting, the bowling or fielding. Nothing was less than top class, ofcourse it always requires such a top class effort to beat a World Class team. There were contributions from everyone. Starts from the top of the order - Sehwag and Gambhir, solid batting from the middle order - Ganguly, Tendulkar and Dhoni and then a superb all round bowling and fielding effort with contributions from one and all.

India win by 320 runs to go one up in this 4 match Test series.
Scorecard
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the Man of the Match for his stupendous leadership on the field and not to forget, his wonderful knocks in both the innings of this Test. Now this is what you call, leading from the front and setting an example for one and all in the team.

Saurav Ganguly receives a special award as well. PCA greets him with a memento for this being his last test here. Ofcourse, we will see more of this elegant southpaw in the next two tests as the same squad has been retained.

Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly are felicitated by the Punjab Cricket Association, India v Australia, 2nd Test, Mohali, 5th day, October 21, 2008
Sachin Tendulkar gets a special award for becoming the first person to accumulate 12,000 runs in Test cricket, in a process, he crossed Brian Lara's record of being the highest run getter in Tests. That record lasted for 2 years before it was broken by none other than the Master Blaster himself.

This is the biggest ever win in terms of runs for India. They beat their previous best which they sealed against South Africa in Kanpur back in 1996. They had mauled South Africa by 280 runs on that occasion.

Another day dominated by the Indians. First it was the batsmen who mauled the meek bowling of the Australians and just when the declaration was made, the bowlers then decided to jump into action. Harbhajan Singh and Ishant Sharma bowled inspiring spells to dent the Australians right from the beginning. Mishra bowled with a lot of heart and gave some anxious moments too where he missed the stumps by only a whisker. But just spare a thought for the duo of Clarke and Haddin who batted bravely and weathered the storm with a lot of courage. This is a well scripted partnership and the Australians would want them to continue in the same fashion for the bulk of the day tomorrow. It'll be a demanding job and the Indians will still be seated at the top.

Fantastic Day for India, barring the second session of course. They started the day by picking up three wickets in the first session. Then Australia came back well in the afternoon but could not stop India from bowling them out with the lead still over 200. They then decided to bat on and why not. Gambhir and Sehwag have just batted beautifully to ensure that the Indians not only score runs but score them quickly. They will look to continue in the same fashion tomorrow and the declaration will be the biggest question on everybody’s mind.

Amit Mishra ends the day in style for India. A day which was dominated completely by India. Australia could hardly do anything first when Ganguly and Dhoni tore them apart and then when the Indian bowlers bowled with a lot of heart. Mishra did most of the damage for India but one cannot overlook the contribution of the other three bowlers. Australia are now under tremendous pressure with their top batsmen having gone back. The first hour tomorrow will call for some interesting cricket.

2nd Test, Day 1 (one) Highlights video played at Punjab C.A. Stadium, Mohali, October 17-21, 2008

What an outstanding day of cricket it has been. Mohali couldn't have witnessed anything better with such major milestones being achieved. Sachin Tendulkar crossed Lara to become the highest run getter in Test cricket history and also became the first one to clock 12,000 Test runs. His good old mate Saurav Ganguly too achieved a landmark of reaching 7000 Test runs and became the 4th highest run getter in Tests for his country. Coming back to the game, this has been a superb day full of action.

The bat dominated the ball for the major part of the day today and it had to be, it was a good batting track and the Indian batsmen batted well to peg back the opponents. But then, Australia fought back hard to dismiss the set batsmen and it was game on again. That is when the legendary pair stepped into the middle and rose to the ocassion, superb hundred plus partnership brought back India into the contest again. However, the record smasher was out just at the brink of stumps but Saurav is still there in the middle. The Indians would want to bat as long as they possibly can to give themselves a big total to bowl with. Day 2 should bring a lot of intriguing cricket.

India captain Anil Kumble: "On a pitch like this the toss is vital. Maybe if we'd won the toss it would have been different. This wicket has changed over the years. There's not much spin on this pitch but I thought the fast bowlers bowled brilliantly.

Man of the match Zaheer Khan: "Our morale is high going into the second Test because to get a draw was a tremendous achievement."

Australia captain Ricky Ponting: "It ended up being a pretty good strip. It was a good start. It's always difficult for us coming here and starting a Test series. There's room for some improvement."

India vs Australia 1st Test Day 4 Highlight Video

Australia in India, 2008, India vs Australia, 1st Test, Day 4 (four) Highlights Video M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, October 9-13, 2008
It was a great day of cricket as both teams kept the interest levels high by playing some competitive cricket. However, at this stage, the match seems to be tilted slightly towards being a draw. But you never know, on a two paced wicket a score of 300 to chase, there can be immense pressure and we have seen in the past that the Indians are really bad at saving games. Tomorrow should be a thrilling final day.

India vs Australia: 1st Test Day 3 Highlight Video

Australia in India, 2008, India vs Australia, 1st Test, Day 3 (three) Highlights Video M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, October 9-13, 2008

The Indians have once again managed to neutralize the proceedings of the day. While the first two sessions were won comprehensively by Australia, the Indians fought back bravely in the last session with Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer batting with a lot of grit. Harbhajan and Zaheer got stuck into them like thorns. It was a healthy 80-run partnership, after Australia had got all the main Indian batsmen back fairly cheaply. With just a couple more wickets in hand, India will want to be as close to Australia as possible.
