It was what Michael Jackson described as his ‘darkest day’ at Neverland Ranch.

These startling never-before-seen images show the moment armed police swooped on the sprawling mansion in search of evidence in their child-abuse investigation.

Seventy deputies from Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department raided the estate in November 2003 after Gavin Arvizo, 13, claimed Jackson had sexually molested him.

The dramatic footage was captured by the department and shows police barging into Jackson’s bedroom and even drilling into his safe.

Larry Nimmer, who had earlier begun filming separately for the star’s defence team, said: ‘It was at the start of the second child-abuse scandal.

O.J. Simpson Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison

Former United States football player O.J. Simpson was sentenced to prison for 15 years, on charges of kidnapping and armed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers at a hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Simpson sentencing came down around noon Friday for his multiple counts.

Skydiver Survives 10,000-Foot Fall

A Florida skydiver fell between 10,000 and 13,000 feet Sunday after his parachute became damaged during a jump. Rafael Sarria, 27, eventually landed in an avocado grove. He suffered no broken bones -- only cuts and bruises. "The doctor said he's lucky to be alive," his wife, Maria, told the Miami Herald. Here, medical personnel rush Sarria to a hospital.

The 1872 FA Cup Final was the first final of the world's oldest football competition, the FA Cup. The match took place on March 16, 1872 at the Kennington Oval, London, England, and was won by the Wanderers with a 1-0 victory over a team from the Royal Engineers. The winning team did not, however, receive the trophy until April 11, when it was presented to them at a special reception at the Pall Mall Restaurant

LG ICC Cricket Awards 2008 Ceremony Video

As part of the ICC's celebration of the game's heroes and role models, the ICC holds an Annual Awards ceremony to celebrate the major individual and team achievements from the past twelve months of world cricket.

The LG ICC Awards 2008 features nine prestigious awards recognising some of the biggest names in world cricket.

The LG ICC Awards ceremony is now in its fifth year and this year it was held in Dubai on 10 September. Previous ceremonies were held in London (2004), Sydney (2005), Mumbai (2006) and Johannesburg (2007).

The event was due to be staged in Lahore ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy but with that tournament being postponed, it will now go ahead in Dubai, where the ICC has its headquarters.

This year’s LG ICC Awards includes eight individual prizes, including a new one for the Twenty20 International Performance of the Year. The winners of seven of these individual awards will be voted upon by a 25-person panel from around the world, made up of renowned former players, respected members of the media, and an elite umpire and elite match referee.

Meanwhile, the nominations for the Women’s Cricketer of the Year Award were decided after each of the world’s top 10 teams was given the opportunity to nominate two players. This award will be voted on by a separate 16-person voting academy featuring former players and other experts on the women’s game.

Based on the 12 months between 9 August 2007 and 12 August 2008, the LG ICC Awards 2008 - presented in association with FICA - will take into account performances by players and officials in a remarkable period for the game. That period includes the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 2007 in South Africa.

The UEFA European Championship (Ten Facts)

The new trophy for the UEFA Euro 2008The UEFA European Championship is a football competition held every four years featuring the national teams of European countries. The following is a list of ten facts and figures, but the emphasis is on the tournament's history, not details like the quickest goal!

1. The modern UEFA European Championship has two parts: a series of qualifying groups played in the two years preceding its second part, a finals tournament. The finals are staged every four years in a different country.

2. The competition began in 1960 as the European Nations' Cup, the brainchild of Henri Delaunay. Then the final tournament consisted of four teams who survived a knockout competition played over the previous 2 years.

3. The 1960 competition was almost canceled for lack of support after many countries left it late to apply.

4. The name 'UEFA European Championship' was adopted in 1968, the same year as knock-out preliminaries were replaced by the modern qualifying round.

5. There have been ten winners: Soviet Union (1960), Spain (1964), Italy (1968), Germany (as the Federal Republic of Germany/West Germany in 1972, 1980 and as Germany in 1996), Czechoslovakia (1976), France (1984, 2000), Netherlands (1988), Denmark (1992) and Greece (2004).

6. The finals tournament has been played in 13 countries: France (1960, 1984), Spain (1964), Italy (1968, 1980), Belgium (1972), Yugoslavia (1976), Germany (1988), Sweden (1992), England (1996), Belgium and the Netherlands (joint hosts 2000), Portugal (2004), Austria and Switzerland (joint hosts 2008).

7. Denmark initially failed to qualify for the 1992 finals, but were invited to play when Yugoslavia were thrown out because of their civil war; Denmark won.

8. The four-team final tournament was expanded to eight teams in 1980 and sixteen in 1996, with 48 taking part in qualifiers.

9. The largest attendance in competition history was a qualifier between England and Scotland at Hampden Park for the 1968 competition. 130,711 were there.

10. In 1960 the Spanish team were withdrawn by their right-wing government rather than play the impressive, and communist, Russians.
